Hybrid heat pump cost (UK 2026)
Hybrid heat pump cost: installed cost range with each end sourced, BUS grant treatment, payback shape.
Cost in 2026
Hybrid heat pump cost (UK 2026). The published installed range in 2026 is £8,000 to £14,000 for a hybrid (gas boiler plus ASHP) (heatpumps.org.uk and installer publishers). BUS does not currently apply to new hybrid installations. Both ends of that range are stated rather than collapsed to a midpoint, because the spread reflects real differences in scope, access and grant eligibility rather than installer mark-up.
What drives the spread
- Whether the existing boiler is kept (saving £2,000 to £3,000).
- Controls and changeover logic between the two heat sources.
- Running-cost split: hybrids weight heating to gas at low ambient temperatures.
- Carbon trajectory: the hybrid is a transitional answer, not an end-state under the Warm Homes Plan.
Where it sits in the PAS 2035 sequence
Hybrid is a stopgap where fabric cannot be improved enough for a full HP.
