Positive input ventilation cost (UK 2026)

Positive input ventilation cost: installed cost range with each end sourced.

Cost in 2026

Positive input ventilation cost (UK 2026). The published installed range in 2026 is £450 to £950 installed (publisher data; Approved Document F reference). Both ends of that range are stated rather than collapsed to a midpoint, because the spread reflects real differences in scope, access and grant eligibility rather than installer mark-up.

What drives the spread

  • Loft-mounted vs hallway-mounted unit.
  • Filter type: G3, G4 or carbon.
  • Running cost: roughly 50 to 90W continuous, around £100 to £200 a year at Q3 2026 Ofgem cap.
  • Listed-building suitability is generally good (no ductwork through fabric).

Where it sits in the PAS 2035 sequence

PIV is the right answer in many cavity 1930s semis where MVHR is not viable; it is a condensation manager, not a heat-recovery system.

Surveyed 22 June 2026. Ofgem Q3 2026 cap applied (gas 7.33p, elec 26.11p, gas standing 29.04p). Next scheduled review 26 September 2026 (Q4 cap publication). [ref M2.2]
